The US and UK have been conducting air strikes on Yemen in retaliation for the Houthie activity in the Red Sea blocking Israeli ships from reaching their ports of call, in an effort to interrupt if not completely stop Israel’s bombardment of the Gaza strip.

While neither the Houthis nor Yemenis have physically harmed, let alone killed, anyone in their marine activities, the US and UK have claimed self defense as their justification for their air strikes against the country, because the Houthi attacks are “disrupting the global economy, and it’s also destabilising the region,”according to British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, as quoted in The Guardian, and therefore the US-led strikes are a “limited and necessary action in response to a specific threat in self-defence”.

Meanwhile, South Africa and coalition of over 100 countries have taken Israel to the International court of Justice Accusing them of genocide what has violated the 1948 Genocide Convention, to which Israel is a signatory. Israel and its supporters and allies reject accusations of committing genocide in Gaza, and continue stand by their claim of self defense.
