Why Trump’s Inauguration on MLK Day should be your call to action

Pretty Deadly Self Defense has traditionally taken a non-political stance in the way that we deliver self-defense for women, non-binary people, and vulnerable populations in general. We’ve taken this position because we believe that knowledge is power, and withholding knowledge is an abuse of power; ipso facto everyone, regardless of personal beliefs or politics, has a right to bodily autonomy and the right to self defense. This is one of our core principles and one that we stand by.

However, gender based violence is political. There’s no getting around it, and there has been no time in recent history where this could possibly be made more clear than on this day, January 20, 2025, when the United States inaugurates a convicted rapist as the 47th president of the United States, surrounded by a cabinet of cronies, loyalists, and appointees who have all themselves been accused (and some convicted) of sexual misconduct, sexual harassment, or rape, including the Supreme Court Justice who will be swearing the new vice president in, and attended by techbro billionaires in front row seats, not a single female tech billionaire among them.
