Our best lessons from the the last two years of the pandemic

The past two years of the Coronavirus pandemic have brought a lot of profound lessons for us all. As an entrepreneur with a non-tech initiative, it’s been a period of intense instability and innovation which has, I believe, resulted in intense growth. As we dig into 2022, which is feeling very much the-same-but-different, I’m sharing the best lessons I’ve learned from all this, in the hopes they’re of some benefit to others, too.

There’s Always A Workaround

When everything shut down in March 2020, one of the first things that came up for me and my colleagues was the safety of people trapped in domestic abuse environments. We obviously couldn’t reach anyone through in-person training, but through a little innovation (thanks, Ninja skills!), we found a way to teach self defense online, even to people living on their own — instead of training with partners, we simply used stuff around the house.

Our online courses don’t take the place of live training, but they turned out to be a great way to learn the basics of self defense movement (so we called it “The Basics of Self Defense Movement”) and, thanks to the magic of the Internet, were able to reach people as far away as Tokyo (!).
